Love and Monsters

WHY

If you like monster and post-apocalyptic movies, don’t miss Love And Monsters! The creatures in the film do not come from space but from an unfortunate consequence of the destruction of an asteroid by nuclear missiles, the fallout of these having transformed our cold-blooded animals into real monsters. Their appearance is one of the great pleasures of the film. We follow Dylan O’Brien (seen in the Maze Runner trilogy) in his road trip to find his girlfriend. But rest assured, this is not a classic love story. During his trip, he will make many friendly encounters with a cute dog and especially a really cool duo of survivors (the excellent Ariana Greenblatt and Michael Rooker) who will teach him a lot about monsters, which will help him for the many less friendly encounters that will follow. The bestiary proposed by the film is really interesting and their design brings a little freshness in this kind of movie! The main character is really cool to follow thanks to his humor but also his clumsiness. He will really evolve throughout the film. So prepare your bag, an excellent B series is waiting for you!

WHAT

In a monster-infested world, Joel learns his girlfriend is just 85 miles away. To make the dangerous journey, Joel discovers his inner hero to be with the girl of his dreams.

Mare of Easttown

WHY

This new HBO crime series takes us to a small Pennsylvania town with Kate Winslet. She is a detective whose personal life is falling apart and is haunted by an old unsolved missing persons case. Beside some minor case, she has to faces a new drama with the murder of a young single mother. On the positive side, as well as on the negative side, the series takes a long time to introduce the many characters and to set up its story. Following the announcement of the murder, the community of this small town will be deeply affected and tensions will rise, trust in certain characters will change. It is interesting to see the parallels between the adults and their children who are not as innocent as one might think. The show explores the lives and pasts of many of the characters in depth and it’s going to be very rich in revelations and complications. And on a positive note, the cast is really excellent! Don’t miss this investigation that will keep you on the edge of your seat!

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier – Truth

WHY

Last episode was already full of tension and the beginning of this one will not disappoint with the long awaited confrontation between Captain America versus Bucky and Sam. The fight is going to be really brutal and some people won’t come out completely unscathed. As are the striking shots of Captain America’s bloodstained shield. John Walker’s disgrace will be marked by the appearance of a mysterious character, La Contessa Valentina Allegra de la Fontaine. This episode will take its time to settle some cases like Zemo who will be handed over to the Dora Milaje or the new meeting between Sam and Isaiah Bradley who will tell us a lot more about his past. This will make Sam think about becoming the first black Captain America! The story then takes us to his family, which will give us some very nice scenes between him and Bucky and we see him training with the shield. The basis of the final episode comes at the very end with the return of a Falcon enemy!

WHAT

Marvel Studios’ “The Falcon and The Winter Soldier” stars Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson aka The Falcon, and Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes aka The Winter Soldier. The pair, who came together in the final moments of “Avengers: Endgame,” team up on a global adventure that tests their abilities—and their patience.
