A very light weekend in new releases because of the US elections! But luckily Baby Yoda is back in a new episode of The Mandalorian as well as Maisie Williams in a new series (Two Weeks to Live).

Check out our mini-reviews and have a great weekend!

You can still have a longer list of the releases under the “This Friday” section on the homepage.

The Mandalorian – Season 2 – The Passenger

WHY

This new episode of The Mandalorian is this time directed by Peyton Reed (the Ant Man saga) who makes his first steps into the Star Wars universe. We will see a radical change of climate as we move from the long stretches of sand to the icy canyons of a new planet. The fan service is once again there with the return of iconic ships from the saga, the fabulous X-Wing. The resulting chase will be very exciting! We will also discover a new aspect of Baby Yoda, he’s a real glutton! He eats absolutely everything within his reach. This will set off a magnificent and terrifying sequence with an army of spiders of all sizes! Baby Yoda is therefore much more present in this episode, we can feel the filmmakers’ wish to emphasize the puppet aspect, which give a magnificent tribute to the work of Frank Oz! Get ready to board the Razor Crest for this great new episode!

WHAT

The Mandalorian and the Child continue their journey, facing enemies and rallying allies as they make their way through a dangerous galaxy in the tumultuous era after the collapse of the Galactic Empire.

Two Weeks to Live

WHY

What a pleasure to see Maisie Williams again after Game of Thrones in this new HBO Max series, Two Weeks to Live! She kept the badass attitude of her Arya Stark character but with a more funny side. The series is full of very British black humour. Maisie plays a touching character looking for her father’s murderer and who fears the end of the world. Having grown up away from society, her first confrontations with the real world are really funny. In an unlikely encounter, Maisie will be accompanied by two friends who are completely the opposite of her. The gap between them is one of the great idea of the show. Maisie will quickly meet the murderer but after an epic confrontation (a reference to a specific moment to Game of Thrones by the way) things will then get really complicated with the arrival of Maisie’s mother and a money theft! You don’t go after gangsters that easily. The series will rise in power to an explosive finale! This series is really enjoyable to watch thanks to its really cool characters (with a special mention to Jason Flemyng) , the gap between Maisie and the real world and of course its humour.

WHAT

“Two Weeks to Live” tells a comic tale of love and revenge born from a seemingly harmless prank that goes terribly wrong. Kim Noakes, an early 20-something oddball who, since the murder of her father, has been sequestered away in the wilderness with her doomsday-prepping mother for most of her life. Feeling compelled to go on a belated coming-of-age adventure, Kim sets out to find her dad’s killer and along the way ropes mismatched brothers Jay and Nicky into her scheme.
