Happiest Season

WHY

The Holidays season is an excellent opportunity to get together with the family. In the case of Happiest Season, Harper’s character (Mackenzie Davis) is going to bring her girlfriend Abby (Kristen Stewart) to her family with a little detail, she didn’t tell them about the fact that they were lesbians. And what do you think that will happen when this very conservative, appearance-driven family finds out? The film takes us to a wealthy environment full of superficiality with the father of the family who is aiming for a political career relying on his reputation as the perfect family, things will soon start to go wrong and it will end up exploding! In spite of all these good sentiments and its classic script, this comedy still offers us really nice sequences with the competition between the three sisters and especially the excellent character of Daniel Levy who comes to make us laugh very often especially when he arrives at the Christmas party. He is also very touching during a beautiful sequence about the consequences of the coming out. This romantic comedy is finally pleasant to watch thanks to its two main actresses and of course Daniel Levy!

WHAT

Meeting your girlfriend’s family for the first time can be tough. Planning to propose at her family’s annual Christmas dinner — until you realize that they don’t even know she’s gay — is even harder. When Abby (Kristen Stewart) learns that Harper (Mackenzie Davis) has kept their relationship a secret from her family, she begins to question the girlfriend she thought she knew. Happiest Season is a holiday romantic comedy that hilariously captures the range of emotions tied to wanting your family’s acceptance, being true to yourself, and trying not to ruin Christmas.

Mosul

WHY

Based on true events, Mosul takes us along with an elite troop of Iraqi police who eliminate the last members of ISIS as they flee this city. After Extraction, the Russo brothers come back with this new action film! And about this aspect, you will be served up excellent sequences as well as a very intense opening scene. But don’t expect superhero acts, this is war, the real and ruthless one where a simple bullet will kill you. Tension is present throughout the film thanks to the filmmaking who is always on the side of the SWAT team. They are led by the charismatic Jasem played by Suhail Dabbach (The Hurt Locker). The immersion is also reinforced by the fact that all the actors speak Arabic, so there is no trick to make them speak English! If you want to find out what the purpose of this elite troupe’s mysterious mission is, you know what you have to do this weekend!

WHAT

When ISIS took their homes, families and city, one group of men fought to take it all back. After inexperienced Iraqi cop Kawa (Adam Bessa) is rescued from a harrowing firefight by the elite Nineveh SWAT team, he’s quickly inducted into the rogue squadron, a band of ten brothers-in-arms led by the wise Major Jasem (Suhail Dabbach). Under constant threat of attack, the unit embarks on a dangerous guerrilla operation, determined to wipe out an enemy base and restore order to the lawless territory. An extraordinary true story of heroism in the face of overwhelming odds, MOSUL is written and directed by Matthew Michael Carnahan and produced by Anthony and Joe Russo.

The Christmas Chronicles 2

WHY

After having produced the first The Christmas Chronicles, Chris Columbus decided this time to direct the sequel (he is also the producer), marking his return behind the camera since the past 5 years. Of course, Kurt Russell is back in the role of Santa Claus and is quite fun to watch. Snake Plissken as Santa Claus is a great idea! What a pleasure to see Goldie Hawn again playing Mrs. Claus. The setting of the story is quite long and not very interesting but it gets a little crazy when you arrive at the North Pole. It’s a real Christmas movie full of good sentiments so we hope you’re in the right target audience otherwise it’s going to be really long for you! Despite all those good sentiments in the film, there are some cool sequences like bringing back the spirit of Christmas to an airport which turns into a musical or a good dogfight sequence. The Elves also have some good little moments for us especially when they go crazy. These moments are full of allusions and small details. A good movie to watch with your children!

WHAT

It’s been two years since siblings Kate (Darby Camp) and Teddy Pierce (Judah Lewis) saved Christmas, and a lot has changed. Kate, now a cynical teenager, is reluctantly spending Christmas in Cancun with her mom’s new boyfriend and his son Jack (Jahzir Bruno). Unwilling to accept this new version of her family, Kate decides to run away. But when a mysterious, magical troublemaker named Belsnickel threatens to destroy the North Pole and end Christmas for good, Kate and Jack are unexpectedly pulled into a new adventure with Santa Claus (Kurt Russell).

The Mandalorian – Season 2 – The Jedi

WHY

As the title of this episode announces, the Jedis finally make their appearance in the series and in a fabulous way with this fight in the fog and half-light where only lightsabers and blaster shots illuminate the frame. Dave Filoni (co-creator of The Mandalorian and director of this episode) is having a lot of fun with the glow of the lightsabers by filming them in different ways during the many confrontations to end with a sublime duel. This episode is very important in the history of the series because we will learn a lot of things about Baby Yoda but also about the big bad guy, which will make Star Wars fans very impatient! They will be overjoyed to finally see the Jedi Ahsoka Tano played by Rosario Dawson (Briarpatch) and what a pleasure to see Michael Biehn (The Terminator) making his appearance in this universe! Stop what you’re doing and go watch this episode!

WHAT

The Mandalorian and the Child continue their journey, facing enemies and rallying allies as they make their way through a dangerous galaxy in the tumultuous era after the collapse of the Galactic Empire.
